One of my favorite things about being a wedding photographer in Hawaii is how many intimate weddings and elopements I get to be a part of. There’s something so pure and magical about two people alone on a beach pledging to love each other forever. Gets me every time. As everyone knows, Hawaii is one of the most beautiful destinations on the planet. This allows opportunities for breathtaking wedding photos. However, we can always do better! So I’ve put together five tips to make your small wedding or elopement more photogenic!

I want my couples to completely trust me to authentically capture their weddings, and part of that is getting to know them before their day. But because I live on the small Hawaiian island of Kauai, many couples I shoot for are not local, instead they have hired me online to photograph their dream destination wedding. Destination weddings can be tricky, because often I won’t get to meet my bride in person before the big day. This creates a challenge because I want you to enjoy your time, as well as get the great photos you want. Hawaii is one of the most popular places for destination weddings, because of this I have put together a list of 4 things to consider before your Hawaii wedding.

Wedding florals are emphasized by every wedding planner, photographer, bridesmaid and– of course, bride. And there’s an elegant reason: flowers are a symbol of romance. I’ve summarized the importance of wedding florals for you, so continue reading! What They Symbolize There’s a reason florists get paid as much as they do. The next time you […]

You don’t have to ask me twice to head to Anini – my happy place – for an photo shoot! That’s where I photographed Dave and Ashley, and it was an absolute dream session in every way.  Ashley made this fantasy date happen as a surprise for her hubby to celebrate their 10 year anniversary […]

I am beyond happy to see this wedding at Keapana Farm I photographed at has been published with Hawaii Bride & Groom Style. I love these two people and had such a great time photographing their Kauai wedding. Take a look at the article for rustic wedding decor inspiration from Jamie’s diy touches and see why their wedding was so much […]

The ‘Golden Hour’. So you want to learn about golden hour, huh? It’s a pretty popular time of day for photographers to have portrait sessions. I’m going to tell you what it is and why we prefer this time of day to others. You may or may not have noticed that my open availability for […]

Tunnels beach is famous for it’s massive coral reef and majestic mountain peaks. Along Kauai’s north shore, this sandy beach was where Mike and Joanna exchanged vows to become married. It was a warm and breezy evening. The sun’s rays shined through the salty air creating a misty romance. They were perfectly dressed up for a […]

Kauai Elopement – Your Way For your elopement wedding you can create your perfect day around the things that you hold sacred. Kauai elopements are wonderful since there is romance and adventure at every turn. Get Married on the Beach or a Mountain Top I’ve had couples jump off of waterfalls after their vows. I’ve […]

Joshua and Joan were the shining example of “Go With The Flow” type of people. It was their dream to be married on a beach, barefoot, toes in the sand. Well, the wedding day was super rainy –flash flood watches, torrential downpour rainy. Any other time we would have rescheduled the ceremony or at least the photos. […]
