Styled shoots exist to bring together wedding vendors with a common theme and they allows an opportunity for everyone to GO BIG and try new things. Kristine of Aloha Elopements is a master creator and a pro in so many fields. It was an honor to be included in this Crazy Rich Asians Inspired Shoot that she dreamt up.
Here is what Kristine said about this styled shoot:
I absolutely fell in love with Crazy Rich Asians and was so proud for the whole community when it came out! Being half Japanese, I decided to lean into that culture for the shoot and give it a modern twist.
After Covid-19 pummeled through the event industry in 2020, I knew that elopements and micro weddings were about to be our new normal for a while. Kauai was closed to visitors for nearly the entire year and it was heartbreaking to the small businesses here. Vendors were so eager to create and use their talents. I decided to plan a series of styled shoots to help promote all Hawaii based small businesses including this Crazy Rich Asians Inspired Shoot.
-Seeing Angela’s hair and makeup transformation into a modern geisha goddess was incredible!
-finding the perfectly sized lemon tree at the venue.
-getting the dress in just in time!
-playing with sushi.
-watching the couple twirl and dance at sunset.
-the sequin kimono was an absolute must have! It was the perfect piece of modernizing tradition.
-the “getting ready” kimono was also perfect! Bold color looked amazing!
-our groom’s larger than life boutonnière was incredible!
-the calligraphy was 100% handmade by the model herself! Japanese pattern design reminded me of the Art Deco that was used in the movie. It was the perfect design for the menu and invitations.
-fresh sushi paired with gold chopsticks – duh!
-his (“hanamuko” is groom in Japanese) and hers (“hanayome” is bride in Japanese) custom cocktails.
-the bride wore a kanzashi dangling hairpin that really helped elevate her modern, traditional Japanese hair style inspired by geishas.
-be true to yourself and your style!
-don’t forget that getting married is really about you as a couple and the love you have for each other. All the other stuff can stress you out.
-trust the professionals!
-shop small even for wedding items. Small businesses actually care about you and your big day!
